The Top 3 Questions Parents and Players Ask Showball
1) Do All Of The Coaches You List Actually Attend this showcase camp?
100% and YES!
Moreover, we are so glad you ask this question!
Since we opened our first camp back in 2007, Showball has never once advertised a college coach who did not attend an event. Year after year, college coaches commit to Showball events because we provide the best exposure for both players and coaches in an extremely efficient and productive environment.
Unfortunately, parents and players contact us all the time to make us aware of other showcase camps who either promise attendees that certain coaches will attend, who do not. Or even worse, begin taking registrations for the camp events well before the list of attending coaches are even announced.
Therefore, we strongly advise you to do your research and caution you to read websites, or call the company — and perhaps even call the college coach — to ensure that your investment, time, and most importantly your exposure will be honored at any camp you may attend.
Of course, there have been some last minute cancelled flights and illnesses, but these examples have occurred infrequently and at the very last moment.
2) Why Is It So Important To Play In Front of Head Coaches? Other Showcase Companies Downplay This Notion and Say All Coaches Recruit. What Is The Difference? I'm Confused.
There is one simply answer to this question:
College Coaches Make All Final Recruiting Decisions For Their College softball Program.
The Coach is similar to the CEO of a company or the Headmaster of a school. Everyone has an important role and therefore, adds to the overall mission of the institution, but there is only one person who assumes the responsibility as the final decision-maker.
This is why Showball Camps sell out every year. High school student-athletes travel around the country to Showball camp venues for the unique opportunity to showcase their respective talents in front of the decision-makers: The Head Coach!
CAUTION – TAKE NOTE
There are a lot of showcase camps and many of them advertise that a “coach” or a group of “coaches” will attend their camp. However, more often that not the “coach”, who is not influential in the decision-making process, may be a first-year assistant coach, graduate assistant, video coordinator, etc. There is nothing wrong with coaches who fill these roles. All coaches are aspiring to become a head coach one day and they all need to climb the softball coaching ladder. However, more often than not, these coaches are not the final decision makers.
So, please be aware that while you may read marketing materials shared by other showcase camps and companies, do your research. Call the director of the showcase camp and ask him/her which coaches actually are attending and what role do they represent at the advertised college. You will definitely want to know and learn this information prior to investing in the tuition for an expensive showcase camp.
So please do your research, because if you are attending a camp where the assistant coach is passing along information to the head coach, you are most likely better off as playing in front of the head coach at a Showball Camp. This is why Showball created the Softball Showcase model – to reward the base of high school softball players. who have not only earned the opportunity, but moreover deserve nothing less than to showcase their talents in front of the decision-makers!
Lastly, Showball’s Softball Showcase Camps provide the best college coaches from the nation’s top schools the opportunity to see you in action.
These college coaches attend for one reason: to evaluate the physical and mental talents of the attending athletes.
3) Will Players Actually Be Seen and Recruited During a Showball Camp? On A Similar Note, Do Players Have The Opportunity To Interact With The Coaches During The Entire Event?
Yes! Absolutely.
All of the coaches who attend a Showball Camp are there to interact with players, share instructional tidbits and best practices, and overall, to see them play live and in person. There is plenty of time throughout the two day event to meet the coaches during our student-athlete / coach “meet and greet”.
In summary, all head coaches and recruiting coaches will be actively providing feedback, workouts, instructional work, and coaching for the entire camp.

The Showcase Mission
Showball was founded by former college softball players who graduated and played professionally. After their playing careers ended, the career path opened with only one goal in mind: HELP HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT-ATHLETES NAVIGATE THE COLLEGE RECRUITING PROCESS. Showball was born! Many decades later, the mission remains the same, but continues to evolve and refined in order to make the college recruiting process more efficient and simple to navigate for players, parents, and the college coaches who recruit.
